Short Summary

A Color Named Love is a book about polyamorous relationships written by M. Ellery and illustrated by Clara Reschke for kids aged 5 to 12.

What This Book Is About

Love is love in whatever form. In the case of this book’s author, Mariana, she believes that there are endless possibilities in how love can be shown. In this book, she shares the story of Anna and her polyamorous family.

Anna was born because of the love between Lia and Ed. Before long, Eli and Betty came into the picture and became part of their family as well. As the story goes on, it talks about:

  • Families can have different dynamics
  • The most important ingredient in building a family is love
  • It makes an impact in a child’s life when a person leaves or when someone new arrives

Reflection and Comments

With the entire story told in rhyme, young readers learn about diversity, acceptance and love.
