Short Summary

This book guides  parents through the many issues and concepts that face boy tweeners and young teens, as they go through puberty.

What This Book Is About

‘Boy Puberty’ by Cath Hakanson is a book that every parent of a young boy should have. It answers some of the most relevant questions you’ll have, and specific facts that you need to have on hand, including

  • What is puberty
  • What are the changes
  • When and how to talk about issues and concepts
  • What to talk to your son about like masturbation and same sex relationships.

With these questions answered, having conversations about puberty, sex, and other related topic can be easier for both parents and their sons.

Reflection and Comments

Just as young boys need guidance as they go through puberty, parents  guidance as they walk their children through it. This book does that by going right back to the basics.

It talks about how puberty happens, complete with illustrations on every part involved in different processes.  Going back to the basics, of how it all happens from a biological point of view (but in easy-to-understand way), helps put things into better perspective.

It’s also great that it talks about things like masturbation, relationships, same-sex relationships, online safety and myths that kids hear about and believe. But what we think the best part is would be the part where it talks about strategies about how to go about these conversations.
