The book tells the story of Ben and Jess — twins who may be different in terms of gender, among other things, but are also so alike in many ways. Ben might be a boy who has short hair while Jess is a girl with long hair, but they both like soccer, they both run fast, and they both enjoy hiking.
This story teaches kids how to embrace the similarities and differences that they have with their peers and emphasises these important things:

- Having respectful relationships
