The Puberty Book is a book by Wendy Darvill and Kelsey Powell for kids aged 9 to 14. Now on its 6th edition, it has become one of the go-to resources about puberty for parents in Australia and is based on 1000s of questions children ask each year.

The Puberty Book is about puberty and all the things they should be expecting once it starts. It covers topics like:

  • The changes that happen to the body (for both boys and girls)
  • How to care for oneself especially once these changes start happening
  • What is sex and sexuality
  • Masturbation
  • How pregnancy happens and birth
  • Contraception and STIs and abuse
  • Being attracted to other people including same sex 
  • Having relationships

The book uses age-appropriate simple language.

This book focuses on puberty but also includes learning about what sex means. It does have a lot of information in it and also includes common questions children ask.
