Short Summary

Two Dads is a book about a family that has two dads written by Carolyn Robertson and illustrated by Sophie Humphreys.

What This Book Is About

All families are different. Some may have a mum and a dad, while others might have just a dad or just a mum. In this story, a child shares what it’s like to have two dads. The adopted child in the story shares a few valuable lessons, like:

  • LGBT families are normal.
  • Being adopted does not mean a child is not as loved like any other kid.

Reflection and Comments

The story shows how fun and loving an LGBT family can be just like any family can be. Because the book talks about two pressing topics — adoption and same-sex parenting — it paves the way towards meaningful conversations about diversity. Through this book, parents can help their kids embrace and respect everyone no matter  what their family is like.
