Short Summary

Where Did I Come From? was written by Peter Mayle and illustrated by Arthur Robins for kids aged 6 to 9. Written in 1973, it continues to be a top-selling book.

What This Book Is About

Although this book was written over 50 years ago, it still gives fun and informative information about where babies come from while making sure that the language remains age-appropriate. It lays down the facts about the  reproductive journey, discussing these key areas:

  • Love-making and orgasms
  • The baby’s conception (not IVF)
  • How the baby grows in the womb
  • The baby’s birth

Reflection and Comments

The book uses a conversational fun tone, allowing kids to easily relate to what they’re reading.

However, the book only focuses on the process of making a baby by intercourse. It doesn’t cover modern processes, like in vitro fertilization or surrogacy.
