‘Your Whole Body Book’ was written by Lizzie DeYoung about all of our amazing bodies, every part of them. It is recommended for children aged 2-5 years.
What This Book Is About
The book normalises and naturally talks about every part of the body including genitals from the top of the head to the feet and everything in between.
The book talks about:
- Different parts of bodies and their functions
- How our bodies are different
- That our bodies are capable of doing amazing things
- Some amazing facts about our bodies
- Our genitals and the correct name
- That bodies are amazing an work together
Reflection and Comments
The book presents diversity in so many ways including all bodies, colours, abilities and cultures. It normalises every body part, from head to toe including genitals using the correct names, (which can then start conversations about body safety) It also includes some facts, like, some people have a foreskin and others don’t. The pictures are beautiful and the text is simple and age-appropriate. It’s for kids aged 2-5 but really? I’d recommend it for everyone aged 1-99. You will learn something too like I did, that the face has 43 muscles that help show our feelings!
